Péter Csatár:
Modularismus in der kognitiven Semantik: empirisches oder methodologisches Unterfangen?

Abstract:
Most studies which concern the two main positions in cognitive semantics (holism and modularism) aim at the revelation of soft spots of these theories in terms of linguistic theory and scientific methodology. I aim to examine in detail a recently formulated problem in the philosophical grounding of modularistic theories, and to present a way out of this problem of vicious circle by a so-called philosophical reconstruction procedure. The appearance of this circle endangers securing the empirical basis of the modularistic version of cognitive semantics. My opinion is that although this problem for current modularistic cognitive semantic theories may not be solved completely, it can be restricted by differentiating between two kinds of modularism: ontological and methodological.
