Geschlossene Textwelten: Konzeptualisierungsmuster in aktuellen antisemitischen Texten

Abstract:
This paper deals with verbal anti-Semitism in contemporary German discourse. The study concentrates on the verbal usages and underlying conceptual patterns found in anti-Semitic texts. Our research attempts to explain verbal anti-Semitism and its conceptual basis by using the principles of cognitive text linguistics. Attention is particularly paid to the relationship between the traditional conceptual stereotypes and their modern verbal manifestations on the one hand, and the prejudicial invectives they launch against Jews on the other hand. It is argued that the text world models in anti-Semitic texts are conceptually encapsulated, since they reveal uniform frames of thought based on stereotypical concepts.
