Csilla Zichler:
Metaphern in der Wissenschaftssprache

Abstract:
This paper attempts to briefly present the functions metaphors can fulfil in (the language of) science and research. A cognitive linguistic perspective (chapter 1) and an associated constructivist epistemological perspective (chapter 2) serve as the theoretical framework. The paper is intended as a short research overview discussing the manifold functions of metaphors on the basis of an idealised chronology of the processes of knowledge acquirement and knowledge impartment (Drewer 2003).
