György Scheibl:
Numerusklasse und Transposition. Sprachkontrastive und -typologische Perspektivierung eines nominalen Klassifikationssystems

Abstract:
This article presents a lexical-semantic classification system of nouns of German and possibly other languages. It starts from the well-known observation that nominal predicates can be classified in number classes on the basis of their referential properties and claims that nouns of different number classes can be related (i) semantically by some well-definied semantic operations, called transpositions and (ii) formally by analysing lexical/morphological strategies like inflection, derivation/compounding, suppletion or deponency which mark the members of such a transposition paradigen. I try to set up a theoretical framework for how this analysis can be expanded for contrastive linguistic and typological purposes.
